Goodreads Book Review #1 - The Giver By Lois Lowry

The Giver (The Giver, #1)The Giver by Lois Lowry

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The Giver it was writen by Lois Lowry. The book was published in 1993.The book was clasified by Young adult; science fiction; fantasy; dystopia. There are 16 awards won. There are 208 pages in the book. I didn't have the time that took me because in my old school we were reading it like a group. Jonas, The Giver, Jona's father, Jona's mother, Fiona, Asher, Lily, Gabriel, Larissa, and The Chief Elder. The setting of The Giver is "the community," an isolated group cut off from the outside world, which is called, "elsewhere."

The place and time of the story is "the community" an isolated group cut off from the outside world, which is called, "elsewhere" and an unspecified time in the future. Jonas, an eleven-year-old boy who is chosen to be the new Receiver when he is twelve. Jonas’s new emotional and sensory awareness cause him to rebel against the restrictions his society places on freedom of choice, individuality, emotion, and human experience. I think there wasn't any "bad guys" for this book. Jonas, The Giver, Jona's father, Jona's mother, Fiona, Asher, Lily, Gabriel, Larissa, and The Chief Elder.

The importance of memory; the relationship between pain and pleasure; the importance of the individual. The thing that the author is communicating is the pain and pleasure. The character help convey the author's message by receving the truth and the memories. No, I don't disagree with any decision that the characters make. The actions of the character help us to better understand the message that the author is communicating because we Jona was trying to say that there could not be any violence and war.

The thing that I like about the book was that he was receving the memories from our world. Like he receving the color, sun, snow, and more things. The thing I didn't like the book was that you have to be a certain age to ride a bike.

My opinion is that this was a good book that have cool things. When I was reading this book I was asking me question about this book. I was asking me like, "Could this happen in real life?", "How does this place look like?". I was asking me does question. Also, I was imaging my self in the book. This book was an exciting book to everyone. It can entertain even the teachers. Everone can imaging thereselve in the book.
